Sort of did a full circle on this one. An interesting process. Trying to get a handle on the balance needed with the noise/calm from color and the noise/calm from marks and elements and so on. I reject the notion that painting is a 2D thing. I reckon it’s about a 74D thing. Or 75D when I round it up 🙃

Yesterday I had a mini studio-crises afternoon on the heels of a really lovely artist talk event in the morning. I kept putting new layers of white paint on the panels because … well I don’t know why. But today we’re all good. Everyone agreed (the voices, you know) that we just needed to try stuff out and if it didn’t work, paint over it. So here are a couple of pieces just starting out. Also a really good example of the huge difference light makes on blue. Or any color really 🤓🦋🌼🌷🌺

Thank you so much to everyone who joined James and me this morning for our artist talk at LAURA VINCENT DESIGN & GALLERY. Laura did a fantastic job facilitating an easy-going conversation, as usual. Someone from the audience thanked us afterwards because they learned a lot - and I had to thank them back because I realized every time I do an event like this, I learn a ton too. The out-loud musings often resolve ideas I’ve been wondering about. Art is truly mutually beneficial all over the place 🤓👋🌷🌷🌷
