Many business owners think that posting on social media is a marketing strategy.

The truth is that this is just one part; without coordinating with the others, it won't work nearly as well as it could.

To create a marketing strategy that will actually work for your business, you need to know these two things:

1️⃣ Your business goals and objectives.

2️⃣ Who your ideal client is, and you need to be as specific as possible.

These then inform:
- Your branding and brand tone of voice
- Your website design
- Which social media channels to use
- The types of content you create for social media
- Your email marketing strategy
- Keywords used within all of your content, especially on your website

Once you've got these, you can then start creating a content plan and schedule that works with your business.

Before you invest in social media marketing, visual content creation, and other marketing support, or spend time attending events and networking, think about this:

Where are you sending potential clients?

If the answer is nowhere, you need to invest in a website.
If the answer is your website, is it working as well as it could be?

Think of your marketing efforts, such as social media, blog writing and PR, as your shop window. They entice people in and make them curious about what you offer.

Your website is the equivalent of your shop floor and sales staff. If it's not up to par, loads slowly or doesn't have all the information a potential client needs, they'll walk away. But if it's beautifully designed, easy to navigate and answers their questions before they have them, you're much more likely to make that sale.

How lovely are these Easter eggs that Eloïse designed?

She recently attended a pysanky workshop organised by the Ukrainian community in Cambridge. An event where plenty of people, both young and old, gathered to decorate these eggs.

A tool is used to apply hot beeswax to the eggs, which is then dipped in dye, starting with the lightest colour and repeated for each colour in the design. The wax is then melted off at the end to reveal the final design!

If you're a B2B business, you may assume that LinkedIn is the best social media platform for you.

In many cases, you would be right, but this isn't always true.

The answer? You need to choose the social media platform where your ideal client spends most of their time.

For many CEOs, managers, and directors, this could be LinkedIn.

But for the smaller, solo business owners, they may spend more time on Instagram or TikTok, depending on what their business does.

So before you go all-in on LinkedIn, make sure you do a deep analysis of your ideal client, including where they consume the most content (and what this content looks like)!
