Yvonna Kopacz-Wright and Brett Wright are the creative duo behind Lomar Farms, a family-owned business born from their passion for nature and sustainability. After moving from NYC to a 200-year-old farm in Palisades, they began beekeeping in 2013 and launched Lomar Farms in 2014, crafting hand-poured candles with beeswax from their hives. Named after their daughters, Lola and Marley, Lomar Farms offers more than just candles—think honey, spices, soaps, and beauty products. Each candle is made with beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter, featuring a long-lasting natural honey scent.

Cheyney University was established through the bequest of Richard Humphreys, a Quaker philanthropist who bequeathed $10,000 — one-tenth of his estate — to design and establish a school to educate people of African descent and prepare them as teachers.

First known as the African Institute, the school was soon renamed the Institute for Colored Youth. In its early years, it provided training in trades and agriculture, which were the predominant skills needed in the general economy.
